Having a Meltdown?

This summer you may be suffering from makeup meltdown. There are easy ways to combat this problem if you know the right products to choose when things get steamy. Here are a few beauty dilemmas and ways to keep makeup in place all season long.

Disappearing brows-
Do you fill in your eyebrows in the morning creating the perfect arch only to see them vanish by the days end? Hot weather can cause most eyebrow powder or pencils to melt off because of perspiration. Choose a liquid brow corrector to shape up your arches so now even after swimming they wont budge.

Shiny Skin-
Even dry skin can get oily in the summer and a sweaty face is not the kind of look you want to go for. Control the shine and keep oil at bay by applying a matifying gel before putting on oil-free foundation. Dab a little gel on your eye lids to keep eye shadow from slipping off. A light dusting of translucent powder and blotting papers will be enough to keep your complexion glowing but not greasy.

Creasy Creams-
Cream eye shadow and blush don’t do very well with heat and can be quite messy. Shadows can crease in no time and blush becomes really slippery. I prefer a light dusting of sheer powder eye shadow or blush so not only does the color stay true all day but it wont slip away.

Runny Mascara-
In one word-waterproof! Use waterproof mascara on the top lashes only for a quick smudge proof look that looks great even on the beach with only sunscreen and lip balm.

Chapped Lips-
If you want kissably smooth lips all summer use tinted lip balms with an spf. Salt water, chlorine, sun and wind can chap your delicate lips fast. A 3-in-one product can give you moisture, protection and great color.

Smearing Eyeliner-
Don’t you just hate in when perfectly lined eyes (a big trend right now) smear half way down your face on a hot day. An easy way to avoid this rough look is to line the lashes with a good waterproof liquid liner or pencil. You will stay looking chic but not heroin chic. Try a vibrant shade of teal for a fun summer twist.

Beach Bag Basics

For those of you taking a tropical summer vacation or just going to the local beach, there are a few things all women must carry with them for maximum protection. You can still enjoy the sun without letting it get the best of you. Remember the only good tan is a fake tan. First off, the right beach bag is everything. My favorites are the floral printed canvas versions by Hable Construction available at www.hableconstruction.com. These sturdy bags come in the coolest prints and hold everything you need. Throw in an oversized beach towel, your favorite sarong and those unread magazines pilling up in your house. Next, there are the sunscreens. You should always have a 30 or higher for the face, one for the body and a tinted lipbalm with an spf of at least 15. I also recommend having a sunscreen for the eyes. Most face and body sunscreens can sting your eyes making your relaxing day at the beach a nightmare so try Kiehl’s Ultra Moisturizing Eye Stick with SPF 30 available at www.kiehls.com. For more protection (you can never have too much), carry a wide brimmed hat (and no a baseball cap won’t do) and big sunglasses. This way your in the shade and looking glamourous but still frolicking in the sand.
