Liquid Liner’s Back!

Oh yes, liquid liner is back and it’s here to stay. It’s sexy and alluring, flirty and fantastic and easier to apply than you think. Forget about the old 60’s looking liquid eyeliner that was so heavy the modern way is much more sleek and sophisticated. The new formulas keep the liner flake-free and there are many waterproof formulas for longer wear. Any eye shape at any age can wear liquid liner so it’s a great way to look current. The trick to applying liquid liner like a pro is not trying to sweep on a perfect line all in one. You want to start applying liquid liner as close to the roots of the lashes as possible at the inside corner of the eyes. In small little connecting dashes, work your way outward towards the outer corners of the eyes and finish with a little sweep up at the ends. This little wing gives the eyes lift and opens them up. I find by using liquid liners that have a smaller brush and handle they are much easier to apply than using long tapered ones. Liquid liner pens are a good solution for very shaky hands. Don’t worry if you make a mistake, keep a small tipped concealer brush dipped into a little foundation handy for any touchups. You can use this brush as a little perfecting eraser. I never apply liquid liner under the lower lash line. This would look too harsh so keep the lining to the top lash line only. If you want a little definition under the lower lashes I suggest smudging on a little powder eye shadow in a shade lighter than the liquid eyeliner. This will keep the eyes soft and balanced. When using liquid liner don’t limit yourself to black only. Try playing with colors like teal, eggplant, shimmering brown, silver and bronze for more fun this fall. I like to pair my liquid liner with a simple eye so keep eye shadow to a minimum and stick to neutral colors so the liquid liner is the focal point. So sweep on that liquid liner it’s the best accessory for fall.

Alma Diaz writes:
Carmindy I need help. I have heavy lids that hang down to my lash line and eyeliner never stays. It smudges all over so should I stop wearing it?

Carmindy:
You can still wear eyeliner but the key is in buying waterproof liquid eyeliner. Apply along the upper lash line and continue looking downwards until it is entirely dry. Then it will last all day with out rubbing off on your lid.

Justine Shroeben writes:
Someone told me that if I apply liquid eyeliner to small eyes they will just look smaller.

Carmindy:
Your eyes will actually look bigger if you apply liner on the outer top ½ of your upper lash line and then smudge a little brown shadow under the lower lash line also about ½ towards the outer ends. This way the eyes will open up and not look closed in.

What is the best way to remove waterproof liquid eyeliner?

Carmindy:
I love the Makeup Forever SensEyes. It liquefies makeup instantly without having to rub on the sensitive eye area. Buy it at www.sephora.com.
